1849 DINNERWARE ... ATHENS by V. ADAMS & SONS PLATE / DISH.
If I de-coded the stamp on the back properly the date is JUNE, 1849. I would consider this plate in exceptional condition. It has the usual knicks and chips on the bottom but the top is beautiful. A slight bit of brown staining on the upper left middle of the plate. In the white strip. Most importantly, there is no crazing at all. I can not see any small crack lines. very clean for 172 years old.
I don't know what else to say. This is the last of the items that came from my mothers little antique shop when she was no long able to care for it properly. I know she would be very happy if I told her I sold the plates. she actually had these as part of the decor of her house she loved so much. I am going to start the bidding at a price I would be willing to accept if I only get 1 bid.
