Description
This set of 4 handle-less tea cups and 8 saucers are in the Gazelle pattern by Adams. It is a rare transferware pattern made around 1830. The central image is a woman and little girl, feeding a small Gazelle. The border has sprigs and flowers resembling orchids or lilies. All of the saucers are marked on the base in red with the pattern name, Gazelle. They also have the impressed mark ADAMS. Only one of the cups has the impressed Adams mark. Each cup measures approximately 3 3/4" wide, and 2 1/8" tall. Each saucer measures about 6 1/8" in diameter, and just over an inch in height. The set is in good condition overall, with some crazing and a bit of surface wear. One of the cups has some staining to the interior, as seen in the second to last picture. One saucer has a rim chip and a hairline crack. There is a closeup of this in the last photo. It is a really lovely antique set.
