An estate found, vintage
early twentieth century 14K solid yellow gold stickpin with a prong-set oval cabochon matrix opal
– offered with no reserve and a low opening bid!
The stick pin measures 2-9/16” long x 3/8” wide across the head x 7/16” deep across the pin bar and weighs
2.2 grams
.
It’s unmarked but has been acid tested by us (on a stone and not the item) and is
guaranteed to be solid 14K gold
. The oval cabochon setting is held securely to the mounting by six claw-shaped prongs.
It measures approximately 9.5mm high x 7mm wide x 4.5mm deep and is about 1.4 carat weight
. (It may be a Mexican Cantera fiery matrix opal – the color is a carnelian orange with white opalescent striping and green opalescent highlights when tilted).
Condition:
this is a pre-owned 14K opal stickpin that has been gently worn. The patina of the gold is shiny, the bar pin is straight and the cabochon is smooth with no apparent wear.
