Description
Emdom/MM NVG Caseis designed to carry and protect a monocular NVG (PVS-14, PVS-18), or a dual-tube NVG (PVS-15, AN/VAS-9), and essential accessories. It's MOLLE and belt compatible, or it can be used as a stand-alone shoulder pouch by adding a strap. It also serves as a transport and storage case when in a bag. The Emdom/MM NVG Case is a semi-rigid nylon case. Soft pouches don't provide crash protection and hard cases tend to be somewhat bulky. The rounded outside corners of the case present a lower profile than a rectangular pouch of the same dimensions without sacrificing much of the volume.
Construction:
The exterior of the NVG Case is 1000D Cordura nylon. It's lined with smooth nylon.
Dimensions:
6" wide x 6.5" high x 3" max thickness. Note that the case will hold any item that fits within that envelope, like binoculars. Weight: 11.6 oz
Protection:
HDPE plastic inserts inside the back panel and front protect the NVG. Closed cell foam behind the plastic inserts and also on the top and bottom cushion the NVG.
Zippered closure:
seals out dirt and dust better than a flap.
External PALS webbing:
The top flap has two rows of webbing, and the outside of the case has 2 rows x 6 columns of PALS. There is elastic sewn between the rows of outside webbing to secure chem lights, pens etc if needed. The webbing is sewn with some slack to accommodate items. Small accessory pouches can also be attached to the webbing.
MOLLE grid in the rear:
5 rows of webbing for using short or long Malice clips. Can be mounted to 2-2.5" duty belts, 3" belts, PALS webbing etc.
D-rings:
Two metal D-rings are provided as attach points for a shoulder strap (not included).
Four side webbing loops:
There are four small webbing loops at each corner so that the case can be strapped or bungeed to packs.
No bottom grommet:
prevents dirt from entering the case.
Interior:
The interior of the NVG case is lined with smooth nylon and completely padded all around and on the top and bottom with closed cell foam. Loop Velcro is sewn inside the case for installing the removable divider. The divider is used to separate the contents; when the NVG is store separately from the helmet mount. I've only tested it with the Wilcox and USGI helmet mounts.
Small flap pocket:
inside the top flap is a small zippered compartment for batteries etc.
Dummy cord loops:
inside each rear corner is a 550 dummy cord loop.
Removable divider:
A stiff divider installs inside the case using velcro, to separate items if desired.
Removable accessory insert:
if the helmet mount is attached to the helmet, the extra space can be used to store the accessory insert, which is a 5" x 2.5" panel with elastic pockets on each side for lens caps, batteries, demist filters etc. The Accessory Insert is a stiff insert that has elastic pockets on both sides. It can be used when the helmet mount compartment isn't in use and can be dummy corded to the loops inside the case. Small items like batteries can be stored in the insert. The user also has the option of removing the divider, and using the case with the Wilcox mount attached to the PVS-14. The USGI rhino mount is too bulky when attached to the NVG to do this. When the Wilcox mount is attached to the PVS-14, it can be opened or folded; it'll fit into the case either way.
Approximate dimensions: 6" wide x 6.5" high x 3" max thickness.
