    Contents:
    1,218
pages of information on how to avoid disease and prolong life, the simplest and best remedies for illnesses, the properties and uses of
    MEDICINAL PLANTS & HERBS,
the symptoms, treatment and cure of diseases, how to nurse the sick, physical culture and development,
with supplementary treatises on anatomy, physiology, and hygiene.
Dr. Gunn's main intent was to provide an invaluable collection of
    PRACTICAL RECIPES
    and numerous preparations and
    CURES
that  is written in simple language, free from medical terms, the diagnosis and treatments of illnesses and diseases in men, women and children, and even a
    "cure" for cancer.
An enlarged and rewritten version of the domestic medical guide which 'first appeared at Knoxville in 1830. It became the most successful non-sectarian domestic medical book of its era - gradually supplanting Buchan's Domestic Medicine in American homes.' This volume was also
used by John Steinbeck as a reference
while he wrote his famous novel East of Eden. 'Steinbeck depended on Gunn for specific contemporary medical information which added verisimilitude to his rendering of 19th Century life...', 'provided model for honorable aspects of human behavior', and gave details 'on pregnancy and midwifery, especially for medical lore and common sense knowledge.' (Robert DeMott, American Studies 22).

    refund policy -
due to the excuses used for returns/ refunds - I do except returns BUT - I
    do not
    refund any shipping costs
    -there or back --so
please ask questions if you are unsure
    or I missed anything. THANKS
    for understanding  --
    and remember -
this book is very old and
may have accumulated bad smells along the way [musty basement/ mildew/ smoke]
    - I have found that
dryer sheets in them for a few months makes a world of difference!
some of my books get sold right away so
please consider using this trick before deciding to return it!
My nose doesn't work like it use to
so the old book smell doesn't bother me.
As far as I can tell - it
does have a very, very, faint smell - I will put extra dryer sheets in it; if, when you get it, it still smells off to you, just keep replacing the dryer sheets until it smells like lilacs!
