Rare presentation US Navy Torpedo Gyroscope MK12-3

Description

This mk12 gyro was special built to be a display piece ,a cool paper weight. This came from the estate of a retired Lieutenant commander, he kept this on his desk.. The sides are the black bake lite shipping container and the top and bottom chrome pieces are possibly the mounting parts from the torpedo .this gyro possibly came from the factory as a display piece.It is in great condition ,spins freely and since it is mounted the was it is, it spins in another axis unlike the others you see on ebay.I have not done any research on the past owner of this gyro but according to other items in the estate he may have had a connection to aircraft carriers or torpedo bombers in ww2.
